morning first.
The right area reduces the hardest fixed movement: an early attraction, late-night return, station transfer or airport departure. The cheapest room can become the most expensive route.
Compare exact properties, not district names. Test the real entrance, nearest useful metro exit, late return and departure handoff before paying.

Where-to-stay FAQ
Which area should I stay in for a first trip to China?
Choose the area that simplifies your earliest fixed morning and latest planned evening, then verify the exact property, metro entrance, walking route and airport or station handoff. There is no universal “best” district.
Should I stay next to a railway station?
Only when an early or late train dominates the itinerary. A station-area hotel can save one transfer but add repeated journeys on every sightseeing day.
How do I know if a hotel accepts foreign passports?
Confirm with the exact property and original booking provider, save the written answer and book under the passport identity. If the desk later cannot find or accept the booking, use the dedicated hotel recovery guide.
