Check the date
before the route.
China’s public-holiday dates are simple; their effect on trains, flights, hotels and attractions is not. Enter a 2026 trip range to separate official holiday overlap from a conservative planning buffer.
The highest-pressure official periods in the remaining 2026 calendar are Mid-Autumn Festival, 25–27 September, and National Day, 1–7 October. A date outside the official holiday can still carry transport pressure, so this tool marks a separate conservative buffer without pretending to predict live crowds.

Seven official holiday periods
元旦
春节
清明节
劳动节
端午节
中秋节
国庆节
The State Council notice also designates 4 January, 14 and 28 February, 9 May, 20 September and 10 October as adjusted working days. These can change ordinary opening expectations, but they are not treated as tourist “safe days” by this checker.
Do not solve a busy date by adding more bookings
Use fewer bases
Each city change creates a ticket, hotel, baggage and transfer handoff. During pressure periods, remove the weakest stop before shortening every city.
Move the fixed attraction
Place passport-linked, timed attractions on days with verified inventory. Let flexible neighborhoods and food days absorb changes.
Keep recovery possible
Prefer clear change and cancellation terms until the intercity transport and critical venue bookings are secure.
Avoid tight same-day chains
A flight or train followed immediately by the trip’s most valuable attraction leaves no recovery path.
Use the correct station or airport
Extra distance to a secondary terminal can erase the time you thought a faster transport option saved.
Choose a real alternative
A second famous attraction with the same reservation pressure is not a backup. Use a lower-dependency neighborhood, museum or rest block.
This is a date-risk screen, not a live crowd oracle
Published holiday dates
It compares your range with the official 2026 periods and an explicitly labelled editorial buffer. It does not infer dates from search trends.
Live inventory or local events
Weather, school calendars, exhibitions, concerts, closures, ticket releases and city-specific demand still require current provider checks.
Dates and risk boundary
Reviewed 26 August 2026. Official holiday dates come from the General Office of the State Council. The before/after buffers are China Travel OS planning assumptions used to trigger closer checks; they are not official leave, live passenger-volume data or a guarantee of crowd conditions.
